Bring gently used accessories, pajamas, room décor, book bags, and school supplies for school age girls to the donation box at the front office during the drive. Cool Girls is a philanthropy dedicated to the self-empowerment of girls. Their community partners, mentors, and volunteer networks support girls in all aspects of their development - breaking the cycles of poverty, low self-esteem, and teen pregnancy. Their life skills programs develop girls into confident women through education and exposure to a broader world of opportunity. Donation receipts for tax purposes and information on verification to record an hour of volunteer service can be obtained from the PTSA Front Office Volunteer on duty at the time you make your donation. Make a difference in the lives of underprivileged girls and get a service hour for cleaning out our closet! It's a win/win!

APRIL 17
Do you have a talent? Can you sing? Juggle? Play an instrument? Well, Special Events is looking for YOU to come volunteer your time at Arbor Terrace and show off some of those talents!
If any of you came to the holiday event in December, we're looking to make this event the same way. The Holiday show was a lot of fun and we had some really great talent! The residents really appreciated the time we took to
put on a fun show for them.
If it's your regular day to volunteer, you'll be able to help us celebrate with the snacks and activities. Even if you don't perform, you're still welcome to volunteer to help make the day special for the residents!
Feel free to ask your friends if they would like to come and contribute a talent as well

COOL GIRLS: April 20-24
PTSA Community Outreach Club Sponsors "COOL Girls" Accessory Drive
Cool Girls is a philanthropy dedicated to the self-empowerment of girls. Cool Girls' volunteer networks support girls in all aspects of their development - breaking the cycles of poverty, low self-esteem, and teen pregnancy. Their life skills programs develop girls into confident women through education and exposure to a broader world of opportunity. Today, Cool Girls serves over 400 girls through their partnerships with 9 Title 1 schools in DeKalb and Fulton Counties.
The Walton Community Outreach Club supports the Cool Girls program through an annual accessory drive. This year's drive will be held next week, April 20-24.
Please bring gently used accessories, purses, jewelry, pajamas, stuffed animals, book bags, school supplies, games, books and "cool" room décor items to the collection box in the front office.
Donation receipts for tax purposes and a verification form for an hour of volunteer service can be obtained from the PTSA Front Office Volunteer on duty at the time the goods are donated.
Make a difference in the lives of under-privileged girls and get a service hour for cleaning out your closet! It's a win/win!

Where: 3661 Sope Creek Farm SE, Marietta, 30067

UPDATE
From: The Ettels and PMC website
On March 11, volunteers from WCO packed 13 care-boxes weighing a total of 182 pounds for U.S. military units in Afghanistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Romania, Turkey and the USS Iwo Jima (LHD-7).
This was the 7th time WCO has packed with Project Mail Call. The boxes are on their way to 7 military units supporting 136 Marines, Sailors and soldiers. Every box is unique because Project Mail Call packs items the military unit is specifically asking for.
The Club displayed energy and diligence in packing the boxes, and after their packing session they helped Project Mail Call prepare for the next large packing session, which is 3 days away. We thank the Club for their financial donation, which covered their mailing expenses. We also thank Debbie, Holly, Pam, and Suzanne for acting as facilitators for the session.

Powers Ferry's International Night
Time: 6:00 - 8:30 pm
International Night is a wonderful event that celebrates Powers Ferry's diverse population. There will be student music and dance performances in the cafeteria. After the performances, different classrooms are set up to represent different countries, and the Powers Ferry families travel from room to room, getting their "passports" stamped in each room. Most rooms have a craft to do that represents the country, as well as food samples for everyone to try. (delicious food J) We'll probably be stamping the passport, helping out in the different countries' rooms, serving food, supervising the crafts, and doing other small jobs. It's a fun and festive evening, as many of the Powers Ferry students come dressed in costumes from their home countries.
Any volunteers who can speak Spanish would be particularly helpful.
Contact Natalie (wcospecialevents@hotmail.com ) if you are interested in helping out!

November 2009:
Powers Ferry's International Night Volunteers Needed!!!!!!
When: Thursday, November 12th
Time: 4:30 - 8:00 pm
International Night is a wonderful event that celebrates Powers Ferry's diverse population. There will be student music and dance performances in the cafeteria. After the performances, different classrooms are set up to represent different countries, and the Powers Ferry families travel from room to room, getting their "passport" stamped in each room. Most rooms have a craft to do that represents the country, as well as food samples for everyone to try.
Our jobs:
-Stamping passports
-Supervising the craft
-Sell refreshments
-Supervise the student performers while they are waiting backstage
-Direct traffic in the hallways
-Help with the Book Fair
Volunteers who can speak Spanish would be very helpful to keep this event running smoothly, because many of the children's parent's cannot easily speak English
Go ahead and email Kyle at wcospecialevents@hotmail.com if you are interested in helping out!
Please RSVP by Monday, November 9th.
