Waller Lodge Officers
2026 - 2027 Masonic Year
Established in 1897, Waller Masonic Lodge is comprised of Freemasons from right here in Waller and spanning the globe. We have approximately 70 members. WE ARE your neighbors, co-workers, family, and friends. As Freemasons, we come from all walks of life, backgrounds, and religions. The common bonds that we all share are that we are good men, we share a belief in a Supreme Being, and we share a desire to better ourselves and our community.
A native Houstonian, born and raised on the North side of Houston, Texas. Growing up in the Houston area helped shape the strong work ethic, sense of duty, and commitment to community that would define his life and career. He graduated from Sam Houston High School before answering the call to serve his country.
In 1965, John enlisted in the United States Army, serving honorably until 1967. His military service instilled values of leadership, discipline, and dedication that remained evident throughout his professional and personal endeavors.
In March of 1974, he married the love of his life, Mary. Their marriage has been a lasting partnership built on faith, commitment, and mutual support, providing a strong foundation for their family of 5 including their 2 daughters Jennifer, and Valerie and son John H Currie and the many accomplishments that would follow in the years ahead.
Following his military service, John began a distinguished career in the railroad industry when he joined the Southern Pacific Railroad in August 1970. Through years of industry changes and corporate mergers, he continued his service with the railroad, ultimately retiring from Union Pacific Railroad in April 2003 after more than three decades of dedicated employment. His long and successful railroad career reflected his commitment to safety, reliability, and excellence.
Never one to remain idle, John embarked on a second career after retirement. From 2011 through 2019, he served as Area Director of Security for Minute Maid Park, home of the Houston Astros, as well as for the University of Houston’s Football and Basketball programs. In this role, he was responsible for helping ensure the safety and security of thousands of fans, athletes, and staff members, further demonstrating his leadership abilities and dedication to public service.
Alongside his professional accomplishments, John has been deeply involved in Freemasonry. A respected Masonic leader, he served as Worshipful Master of Cade-Rothwell Lodge No. 1151 during 1995 and 1996, guiding the lodge with distinction and earning the respect of his brethren. His commitment to Masonic principles of brotherhood, charity, and service has continued throughout his life.
Today, John serves as the Worshipful Master of Waller Masonic Lodge, bringing decades of leadership experience, military service, professional achievement, and Masonic dedication to the office. His life stands as an example of faithful service to his country, his profession, his community, and the Craft of Freemasonry.
John's story is one of dedication, integrity, and leadership. A life devoted to serving others and leaving a lasting positive impact wherever he has been called to serve.
