What is Big History?
Big History started with David Christian, whose legendary TED Talk summed up nearly 14 billion years of history in 18 minutes. Now those 14 billion years are spread out over a 10 unit course. It starts before what most people think of as the beginning of time and ends in the future, which is, ultimately, what great historians care about most.
This course follows the overarching theme that the history of the universe is a story of simplicity to complexity and follows the eight Thresholds of change. These thresholds serve as the backbone of the units of the course.
