Car Parks signposted from Pen Lon Roundabout. Spaces for a few cars near Anglesey Sea Zoo
We set off early and arrived at Maes Parcio Llyn Rhos Ddu car park at Pen Lon. We had passed this small car park on our ast walk and I remember thinking, That will do for the next section. We began our walk back to the roundabout where we finished last time, a short walk along the road and we turn off along a track. Heading towards the Afon Braint, as we got near I could not see a bridge but knew we had to cross. On closer inspection we realised there were stepping stones. The river was high and two of the middle stepping stones were lower than the rest and slightly submerged under water. We began to cross soon realising we could not make it across. We waited a short while and the river level seemed to be receding. The water became level with one of the stones and then about 1 inch below. We headed across but I froze with slight fear at the middle stones, worrying they could be slippery and if when I strode across one of my feet were to slip I would be in an icy cold fast flowing river, and that it would probably hurt on the way down. I got on all fours sliding a foot across to the next stone to test for slipperyness. Then I had trouble getting back on my feet. Eventually after a long wait I plucked the courage to go for it. It was a slow crossing, probably 40 minutes or longer to cross after we first arrived. This was followed by a few boggy paths and fields for a while which slowed us down a bit more. This section was really well signposted. I did not need my map once. We finished at the Anglesey Sea Zoo, which was shorter than I had planned to walk today, but after spotting parking spaces nearby and after a lot of hindrance on todays walk it was cut short and we walked back to Pen Lon via roads, this was not the best idea as the A4080 was quite a fast road with little pavement. Enjoyable walk, scary in parts (Stepping Stones and a field of cows) but breathtaking views of the Menai Strait and mountains beyond at the end.
