We set off early and arrived at Malltraeth, parking at the little free car park just off the High Street near the bridge over the river. The same small car park we used on our last visit. The forecast had been sunny and warm, we arrived to windy and dull, but it was quite warm when out of the wind. We walked along Malltraeth Cob making our way to Newborough Forest. Then along the coast path into the forest alongside the estuary and eventually arriving at Newborough Beach. For the first time I decided to leave the official path for a short while and opted for a walk along the beach. The tide was out so you could access Llanddwyn Island. Across the beach to the main var park where we left and the coast path which had ran in the woods alongside the beach. There are public toilets here and a mobile snack bar which we stopped at for a drink and ate our pre-bought foods. Then we headed again along the coast path to Pen-Lôn finishing at the roundabout on the A4080 which would lead us back to Malltraeth. MISTAKE: The path along the road only ran to Niwbwrch (Newborough Village) then we had to walk along a road which was not good, I would advise making a circular walk through the forest, there was a small car park before the roundabout, we could have turned left there and followed a path back through the forest.
