Wagga Bidgee Canoe Club (WBCC) is holding a Come & Try session in February 2026. It's for people who are interested in trying kayaking and joining our club. No previous kayaking experience is necessary!

The Come & Try sessions will be held on Saturday the 7th Feb 2026, starting and finishing at the WBCC Kayak Shed (located at the Wagga Beach).
There will be 2 sessions run with a maximum of 6 people in each session. The times for each session are:
Group 1 - 8:00am - 9:15am
Group 2 - 9:30am - 10:45am
Each Come and Try Paddler will be assigned to one club member (a buddy), who will remain with them for the duration of the session and over the following 4 weeks. They will arrange other times with you to go out for a paddle and teach you paddle skills and river safety.
For those who are available on Saturday the 28th February at 8:30am, we will bring everyone back together for a group paddle with all the buddies and other club members. This will be followed by a club breakfast BBQ back in the club sheds at 10:00am.
It is essential that:
Come and Try Paddlers must be able to swim 50 metres
Come and Try Paddlers must be 18 years and over (16 &17 year olds will be considered if accompanied on the water by a parent/carer. Contact the organisers waggabidgeecc@gmail.com to discuss this further)
There will be a cost of $10 for the session (to cover costs of boat, paddle and life jacket hire). This will also cover all subsequent sessions with your buddy and the final group paddle and BBQ.
How Do I Sign Up for the Come and Try Sessions?

You will be contacted by a club member within a few days of registration. You will be provided with information on what to expect on the day and the process for payment. This will also be followed up with an email detailing: arrival times, the buddy system, what to bring, details for making payment and a link and information about signing up to the FREE 4 week trialist membership to cover insurance,
You will be offered a place after speaking to a club member on a first come/first serve basis until all spots are filled
A final confirmation email will be sent once all the above steps have been completed!
