The Caboose is an amateur-friendly environment with several ham groups utilizing the facilities. All you need to bring is your portable rig, a power source, and a self-supporting antenna system. There are a few trees available to throw a wire over.

Directions ---- US45 LaGrange Road to 67th STREET EAST
to East Avenue / Santa Fe Drive left SOUTH
Go over the RR tracks (after the train moves slowly out of the way)
go under I55 to the Stop Sign
Turn LEFT at the StopSign Leon Cook Drive -- go over the BIG bridge over the RR tracks
at the NEXT stop sign; TURN left
and look for the red caboose on your right

40- and 20-meter ham sticks are available IN THE caboose. Just bring your own radio. And speak to DON, the caretaker of the caboose. He can set you up. If you run into Vince NT9N, he knows all the ins and outs of operating at the caboose.
