Anthropological Association for Humankind (AAfH)
Organizing Institution of WAAC-2026
The Anthropological Association for Humankind (AAfH) is the organizing institution of the World Applied Anthropology Congress (WAAC-2026)—a premier global platform dedicated to applying anthropological knowledge to address the most pressing challenges of our time. Founded on February 27, 2021, AAfH is a professional, non-governmental, and nonprofit organization committed to advancing human well-being through applied anthropology. The Anthropological Association for Humankind (AAfH) is headquartered in Hyderabad, India, and is a legally registered professional body under the Telangana Societies Registration Act, 2001. It holds 12A and 80G certifications under the Income Tax Act, and is also registered with NITI Aayog, making it eligible for CSR funding through its designated account.
Guided by the belief that anthropology is essential for navigating complexity in an interconnected world, AAfH works at the intersection of research, policy, practice, and public engagement. The Association brings together scholars, practitioners, institutions, and grassroots communities to respond to evolving global issues with context-sensitive and inclusive approaches.
AAfH recognizes that today’s world is marked by deep and interlinked crises—climate change, forced migration, pandemics, food insecurity, environmental degradation, digital inequality, global health emergencies, armed conflict, mental health distress, urban displacement, aging populations, gender injustice, socio-economic polarization, and emerging ethical dilemmas posed by artificial intelligence and biotechnology.
These challenges demand interdisciplinary collaboration, critical thinking, and community-centered solutions—all of which lie at the heart of AAfH’s mission. By applying anthropological insights to real-world problems, the Association seeks to promote human dignity, diversity, justice, and sustainability.
Key focus areas of AAfH’s applied work include:
Climate change, human migration, and disaster resilience
Global health, mental well-being, and social epidemiology
Food systems, nutrition, and indigenous ecological knowledge
Population studies, displacement, and urban inequalities
Human genetics, digital surveillance, and AI ethics
Education, youth empowerment, and livelihood security
Gender equity, child protection, and aging societies
Cultural heritage, identity, and social cohesion
Post-pandemic recovery and public trust in science
As the organizing body of WAAC-2026, AAfH is mobilizing a diverse and international coalition to engage in meaningful dialogue, foster partnerships, and co-create innovative solutions. WAAC-2026 is not merely a conference—it is a call to action to reimagine the role of anthropology in a rapidly transforming world.
AAfH remains committed to building bridges between academic disciplines and social realities, empowering communities, and advocating for a world where human difference is valued, justice is pursued, and collective resilience is nurtured.
