PROTOTYPING
PROTOTYPING
Don't forget that before 3rd April (Day 3) you need to have a prototype/solution of your idea ready to share with others.
'A prototype is an early sample or model. Usually produced relatively quickly and cheaply for easy testing and to gather feedback before spending too much time or money on one idea. This provides opportunities to show it to others, ask for feedback, highlighted positives and any issues, then change the idea, modify and review.'
During the forums we followed a process of 'Design-Thinking'. This is where we
empathised with a problem in the world, who it impacts and how it impacts them
defined what the problem is, reasons why it exists and why it should be overcome
ideated (generated ideas) of ways to overcome reasons the problem exists
prototyped specific ideas and ways of trying to overcome this problem
the last step will be to test your idea with your peers - you will present your idea to others for feedback and ways to improve and make the idea even better
Create a ‘prototype’ of the idea – it should show clearly what the problem is, how you will try and tackle it, what you hope the outcome will be
PROTOTYPES:
Your prototype could be in any form. It could be a sketch, comic strip, wireframe, storyboard, a physical model, a graphic model etc.
The most important thing is that your team will need to present your prototype to others on the last forum day (10th of June). You need to be able to clearly explain what the problem you are trying to overcome is, and how you will take action on your chosen problem.
You should create your prototype and present it as a school team.
The presentation of your prototype should clearly state the following:
what the problem you are trying to tackle is
this should be a local problem you see in education, that is linked to a bigger global problem in education.
your team should be able to say..."The problem we were trying to overcome in our local education community is......this is connected to the bigger global problem in education of......"
explain why this is a problem locally and globally and who for
your team should be able to say...."This is a problem locally for......because.....and globally this is a problem for....because...."
what you identified as a reason this problem exists - 'a root cause'
your team should be able to say...."We identify a main reason this problem exists globally is.....and a reason this exists locally is......'
how you decided to try and tackle the challenge in your school/local community to make education more inclusive or equal
your team should be able to say...."We planned to overcome this problem to make education more equal/inclusive by....."
what you hope the outcome will be/what you hope to achieve
your team should be able to say...."We hope that by implementing this prototype we will be able to change...."
how your prototype/idea actually works
your team should be able to say...."Here is how our prototype/idea works...."
