WELCOME
The Victorian Young Leaders: Global Youth Forum (GYF) offers a three-part online student leadership experience for Year 9 students as part of the Victorian Young Leaders Programs. You will explore what it means to be a global citizen and how we can take action in the world. The experience builds awareness of global issues, important 21st-century skills, plus a sense of agency and confidence. GYFs aims to promote student leadership and action by connecting with other students in schools locally and internationally, and facilitating conversations about issues in education and schooling in the current global context. The forum will take place online, using a range of collaboration and communication tools.
As a participant of the program, you will engage in and contribute to three online components.
Pre Forum Event (Day 1): Students get to know each other and begin to explore the key concepts covered in the forum. There will be guest expert presenters and multiple opportunities to connect with peers across Victoria and internationally. Students begin to explore four United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Main Online Forum (Day 2): A full-day event where students will be led through a series of activities to collaboratively explore themes of Globalisation, Global Citizenship, and Identity and Purpose. Students explore one of four United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and generate some 'solutions' to take positive action locally and support achieving this goal by 2030.
Post Forum Event (Day 3): A final showcase where students will present and receive feedback on their proposed solutions or initiatives to support positive action on a local challenge in a global context.
