Campout Packing List
When packing for a campout you should always pack as if you were going to hike-in 5 miles. Therefore, you should bring everything you need on your back. If you need any equipment, please talk with the Quartermaster. The troop has some equipment that you can borrow.
All items below are not optional, unless noted otherwise and necessary for all seasons
NO JEANS EVER
Metal frame Hiking Backpack
Sleeping Bag (appropriate for the season) inside a plastic bag
Sleeping Pad in a plastic bag
Rain gear (top & pants) – no ponchos
Hiking boots (waterproof)
Extra pair of boots or shoes (sneakers)
Fleece and jacket (windbreaker)
Hat (warm—to sleep)
1 Change of clothes per each day of outing
A few T-shirts
Polyester or nylon pants – no jeans ever but no gym/sweatpants to travel
Sweatshirt or sweater (all seasons)
A few pairs of socks (wool or synthetic) – no cotton
A few underwear
Long Underwear (fall-winter-spring)
Snow Pants (fall, winter, spring)
Boot Gators (optional - winter)
Gloves (fall, winter, spring)
Bathing Suit and towel (in season)
Uniform to travel (shirt & neckerchief) not mandatory for most campouts – we will specify when it will be mandatory – (but no gym/sweat pant or shorts to travel)
Flashlight
Bowl/Spoon/fork/cup (plastic)
Water Bottle (fill it before you leave home)
Small Pocket Knife (optional but practical)
Boy Scout Handbook (packed in zip-lock bag)
Small notepad & pen
Toiletries (toothbrush, etc.)
Sunscreen/bug spray (spring, summer)
Bag lunch (supper)—Please don’t forget or eat before you leave—1st meal not provided
Camera (optional)
Day pack for the road (entertainment)
All your clothes should be put inside plastic bags inside the backpack
