Use the navigational links at the top of the page to find details about auditions and the festival. This page is (perpetually) under construction and will be updated with new information as it becomes available.
Latest Updates
The daily schedule for the festival has been drafted. It is subject to change at any time but most details are solid. The festival schedule page has been updated to indicate daily starting and ending times, as well as concert times.
Room assignments for students who are staying at the hotel have been made based on teacher recommendations. These room assignments will be distributed to teachers early in April.
Links to purchase concert tickets are now available on this website.
Commuting schools: Please note that on Wednesday and Friday, any Modern Band and A Cappella Ensemble students will need to be dropped off at their St.Monica-St.Michael School rehearsal site in the morning. (On Thursday all students will start the day at Spaulding HS, and on Saturday all ensembles will be rehearsing at the high school.)
Concert attire for students for concert band, orchestra, and chorus is ALL BLACK. (Jazz ensemble, modern band, and a cappella ensemble managers may have other instructions for students in those ensembles.)Choral Re-hearing Process:
Information for teachers of chorus students: There will be a choral re-hearing process for the purpose of making sure that the students are prepared when they arrive to the festival. The re-hearing will happen in the rehearsal space. Students will be broken into two groups: those that are less than an hour away will be heard from 9:35-9:55, and those that are more than two hours away from 10:05-10:25. Students will be singing in choral formation with their voice parts. The students will be spaced with a row in between so that teachers can walk through the aisles and listen to the students as they sing an excerpt/portion of each of the songs.Teachers will identify if a student does not seem to know the music, and they will write their name down. If a student's name is written down more than three times then their teacher will be notified.
CHORUS MEMBERS: Practice Tracks now available for your preparation

(for anyone unfamiliar with the festival)

Auditions are scored and the top performers may be invited to participate in a festival ensemble
Festival ensembles: concert band; orchestra; jazz ensemble; chorus; contemporary a cappella ensemble; modern band ensmble
Costs involved: school participation fee; audition fee; festival participation fee
Educators who wish to register students for All State must have an active membership with NAfME (the National Association for Music Education)
Schools within an hour (roughly) of the festival site will be expected to transport students to/from the festival daily; schools farther from the festival site will have their students housed in a nearby hotel with arrangements made by the festival
2023-24 Changes To Be Aware Of
Some audition repertoire changes were made (reflected on the Audition Details page).
A new Contemporary A Cappella Vocal Ensemble has been added. See the Audition Details page for more information.
A new Modern Band Ensemble has been added. See the Audition Details page for more information.
Vocal scholarship auditions will now include two subcategories: classical and contemporary. Classical vocal scholarship auditions may include one legit musical theater selection. Contemporary vocal scholarship auditions may include any form of musical theater and/or commercial music.
The scholarship audition fee was increased from $15 to $20.
During the jazz ensemble selection process, the baritone saxophone position may be filled by a student who auditions on alto or tenor saxophone if that student scores more than 20 points higher than the top baritone sax audition.
Vocal sight-singing changes: student can use any rhythmic system they choose for rhythmic sight-singing, and rhythm will be eliminated from melodic sight-singing.
The composition scholarship adjudication process is undergoing revision (still working out details).
With the exception of composition and classical piano scholarship auditions, in order to receive a scholarship, the student must also audition for one of the festival ensembles (concert band, orchestra, chorus, jazz ensemble). If this requirement is not met, the student will be adjudicated for feedback but will not be considered for scholarship or scholarship performance honors.
Changes have been made to the vocal and jazz rubrics.
There will be choral re-hearings for the 2024 festival.
