Picture this: You are climbing up the mountain of higher education, your view obstructed by the rocks and obstacles in front of you. But, as you take those final steps towards the peak, towards college, you see an expansive blue horizon - full of new classes, activities, opportunities, and people that have come from all walks of life. Our goal is to help you reach that peak, and thus, our theme for the year is “Expand Your Horizons”.
With decades of history in the Vietnamese-American community, we face structural and institutional barriers that obstruct our view-that prevent us from reaching our peak potential as individuals. Nevertheless, by uniting as a group, we can challenge these obstacles of oppression and define our own identities - we can expand our horizons.
We are all trudging through these obstacles. Even at the peak, when you’re already in college, there are still many tall and imposing boulders. But, if we all stand on each others’ shoulders, no matter what lies before us, we can all see the expansive blue horizon.
