Symposium

VSI-2018 Symposium is an annual event started by VLSI Society of India (VSI) Goa Chapter. Every year it has been hosted by one of the technical institution in Goa-India, in the areas of Very Large Scale Integration and Embedded Technologies, which is interest to participants of Electronics Science , Physics, Electrical, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical and Computer Engineering students. The 11^th edition of the conference, INDICON-2018, is organized by Department of Electronics, Goa University, Goa, India in association with the VSI -Goa Chapter. The 2017 edition of the conference has included, in addition to the areas mentioned earlier, Deep Digitization as a new addition.

Over the past few years, VSI emerged as a well-recognized and an eagerly anticipated event in the State of Goa because of its high quality technical sessions, keynotes, and also for the networking opportunities that it provides. Authors are invited to contribute original research papers which can be submitted electronically via the conference website (Please see the Call for Paper page). "Accepted papers will be attempted for publishing into UGC recognized journals".

Department of Electronics @ Goa University

Established in the year 1992 has contributed in human resource in area of Electronics researchers and Engineers working at National & International level in various institutes of repute. Department is having MOU with ALTERA Inc. USA in area of System on Chip (SoC) Laboratory. The thrust area of the Department is Embedded Technologies having application to Networks System, Smart Sensors, Real Time OS Systems, System on Chip(SoC), Network on Chip (NoC). Other area of research is in Image processing having application to Hyper-spectral & Depth Facial Biometrics; Cognitive Science, Agro-Instrumentation and so on. The Department is supported through financial support from UGC, DST, ICAR, ICMR, DEiTY and so on.

Goa University

Goa University was established under the Goa University Act of 1984 (Act No. 7 of 1984) and commenced operations on 1 June 1985. The university provides higher education in the Indian state of Goa. It is located on Taleigao Plateau overlooking Zuari estuary on a picturesque campus spread over 427.49 acres with state-of-the art infrastructure such as faculty blocks, administrative building, library, sports facilities, student hostels, bank, post-office, staff quarters, etc. A campus-wide Internet connectivity with strong bandwidth is available for all 24 hours a day.

The University took over the enhanced role of Centre of Post-Graduate Instruction and Research (CPIR) which was set after the annexation of Goa by India in December 1961, by the University of Bombay (now Mumbai), in June 1962. Since 1985 Goa University offers graduate and post-graduate studies and research programmes. It is currently (2014-19) accredited to the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in India with A Grade. The National Institutional Ranking Facility (NIRF) (an organ of Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Govt. of India) in its second cycle of ranking Indian Higher Educational Institutions in the year 2017, ranked Goa University at 64th rank among 3000+ institutions that participated from India.

Over the past 30 years, the University has steadily expanded its reach, both in terms of the number of affiliated colleges - professional and general education numbering to 56, as well as the diversity of courses offered. These colleges offer various courses leading to a degree at graduate, post-graduate level. 12 of them are also recognized as research centres to offer Ph.D. programmes. The University has 26 Departments and 2 Centres (Table 1) offering 33 programmes leading to Masters degree, 21 programmes leading to M.Phil. Degree and 25 programmes leading to Ph.D. degree in various disciplines. In addition, 9 research institutions in various disciplines situated in the state of Goa are also recognised for research programmes leading to Ph.D. degree by the University.
