Peer mediation is problem solving by youth with youth. It is a process by which two or more students involved in a dispute meet in a private, safe and confidential setting to work out problems with the assistance of a trained student mediator.
Peer Mediators at Victor are trained by Mrs. Vuong, Mr. Gonzales and current 5th grade peer mediators. In the month of May of each school year, 4th grade students have an opportunity to apply and interview to be a peer mediator for the following school year when he/she is in 5th grade.
Peer mediators are responsible students, have good citizenship and are recommended by a teacher. It is imperative that peer mediators are held to these high standards as teachers, staff and students rely on peer mediators throughout the year.
If you are a 4th grade student and interested in becoming a Peer Mediator, please see Mrs. Vuong in room 48 for an application.
