Every industry is now involved in the age-old argument between electronic and paper-based data storage methods, and the healthcare sector is no exception (TechAdvisory.org, 2019). Despite widespread agreement that electronic health records (EHRs) have more advantages than the paper-based health record do, however EHRs have some disadvantages which I already discuss above (TechAdvisory.org, 2019).
EHRs are time-saving processes in health records that help healthcare providers and patients in critical care facilities save time (TechAdvisory.org, 2019). Furthermore, in the case of any medical crisis, this data can offer vital information about the patient (TechAdvisory.org, 2019).
One of the obvious benefits of the computerised transformation is the reduction of harmful ecosystem because paper-based health records are required to file for a patient, which contains a large number of papers. Whereas, using this EHR method conserves natural resources (TechAdvisory.org, 2019).
From the safety point of view, in paper-based records, there are chances of losing or being unable to find the papers or patient’s file (TechAdvisory.org, 2019). On the other hand, due to the upgradation of cybersecurity, there are fewer chances of cyberattacks on digital records (TechAdvisory.org, 2019).
In the financial point of view, paper-based systems are very cheap they just record human resources for implementation (TechAdvisory.org, 2019). In contrast, computerized system requires good funds for buying, implanting, and inserting the new system (TechAdvisory.org, 2019).
One of the major common complaints about paper records is the difficulty in permissioning and sharing them, followed by the difficulty in finding that document But in the EHR system, people have their own ID and password to access the system (TechAdvisory.org, 2019).
