Getting started with the headset

The Oculus Quest 2 is a standalone device, that runs games, videos, and educational applications wirelessly using an Android-based operating system.  You can even view your YouTube 360º virtual tours using its YouTube VR application. 

Before viewing the YouTube 360º virtual tours on the headset, the following settings and features are required to access or navigate the headset.

When you borrow the Oculus headset, you may find that you are unable to access an Makerspace Meta Account or you own meta account. If that's the case, please Factory Reset the device using your own meta account and mobile app or bring it back to the Library to access and use the Makerspace Meta Account. 



From the Universal Menu, select the Profile icon to connect the device to Wi-Fi. The Universal Menu lets you access features and launch your favourite apps wherever you are in VR. You can access the Universal Menu at any time by pressing the Oculus button on your right Touch controller.



Connecting to CCwSecure:

Use the following requirements to access the secure Wi-Fi connection. Change the Identity to your username and enter your own password.

CONTROLLERS

You have the option of using Makerspace Meta Account or add your own Meta Account. Click here to create a Meta Account. 

The advantage of using the Makerspace Meta Account is that there are already pre-loaded purchased apps such as Beat Saber.


Your Touch controllers are a pair of tracked controllers that give you hand presence – the feeling that your virtual hands are actually your own.

Viewing your YouTube 360º virtual tour

Use the following instructions to view your YouTube 360º virtual tour on  the Oculus  Quest 2 :

1. Find and open the YouTube VR app from the Apps Library on the Home Screen.

2. Once in the app, click on the 'search' icon, and when the keyboard appears, search for your YouTube video title using the keyboard. Filter your search results by selecting 360° videos.
