FAQs
What is it like speaking to a mental health professional?
It’s not like the movies, there won’t be a leather couch you lie down on. We can’t vouch for all clinics but at Voxus we concentrate on making the process simple, easy and engaging. Many people find it scary to start with but very rewarding. You will get what you put into it, and you have nothing to lose.
Will my details and information be kept confidential?
Confidentiality is held very seriously at Voxus, where psychologists are bound by a professional code of ethics. All data and information obtained is securely stored for 7 years and not accessible by anyone else other than the client and clinician as per the legal requirements placed on psychology clinics by the Australian Government.
Whats the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist?
Psychologists focus on providing therapy and working with the client to develop a solution to their challenges. A psychiatrist are medically trained to diagnose illnesses, manage treatment and provide a range of medications and therapies.
What is the difference between a psychologist and counsellor?
A counsellor focuses on immediate, practical issues by counselling to the client’s concerns and difficulties.
Do psychologists write court reports for clients?
At Voxus, we don’t engage in legal matters, unless subpoenaed by the courts.
Veretis Group which we are apart of does have a specific medico-legal clinic called Veretis Legal Psychology which provides assessment and report production for criminal matters, insurance claims, family court issues and more.
If you are in need of these services please contact Veretis Legal Psychology on (02) 9929 8515
