Meet Vic

I am Vic Morman, candidate for Sheriff of Buncombe County, and I am dedicated to serving and protecting the community.  My career of 29 years in law enforcement has been marked by a commitment to excellence, continuous learning, and a deep understanding of the complexities of justice.

My educational foundation includes a Bachelor's degree in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice, providing me with a comprehensive understanding of the social dynamics and systemic issues that impact our community.  This academic background, combined with extensive practical experience, allows me to approach law enforcement with a well-rounded perspective.

Throughout my career, I have consistently sought opportunities to enhance my skills and knowledge.  I am a recipient of the NC Training and Standards Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate and the NC Sheriffs Standard Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate, demonstrating my dedication to meeting and exceeding the highest standards of law enforcement.  Furthermore, I am a recipient of the NC Advance Service Award, a testament to my commitment to serving the community with integrity and dedication.

My training extends beyond basic requirements.  I have completed First Line Supervision Training, equipping me with the leadership skills necessary to effectively manage and mentor teams.  I have also accumulated over 1500 hours of specialized law enforcement training, covering a wide range of topics, including advanced investigation techniques, crisis intervention, and community policing strategies.  This extensive training has provided me with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing law enforcement today.

My areas of expertise lie within the realm of law, with a particular focus on upholding justice, ensuring public safety, and building strong relationships between law enforcement and the community.  I believe in a proactive approach to crime prevention, focusing on community engagement, education, and collaboration.  I am committed to fostering an environment of trust and transparency, where every resident feels safe and respected.

As Sheriff, I will prioritize the following:

• Community Engagement - building strong relationships with residents, community organizations, and local businesses to foster trust and collaboration

• Professionalism and Training - ensuring that all deputies receive the highest level of training and adhere to the highest ethical standards

• Crime Prevention - implementing proactive strategies to prevent crime, including community policing initiatives and partnerships with local organizations

• Innovation and Technology - utilizing the latest technology and innovative approaches to improve efficiency and effectiveness
