VO Pet Owners -
I'm so thankful to be able to enjoy part of the year here at Venture Out, where we have a great place to walk our dog and visit other pet owners and their pets. I want to remind you that the Pet Walk is for any VO Resident or Renter and that we must ensure it remains a safe and comfortable place for all. Thank you to those taking care of the Pet Walk "behind the scenes." Unfortunately, we sometimes have issues due to the high volume of people and pets and the differences that naturally occur with large groups. I want to address a few "Hot Topics."
#1 Please keep your dog safe in the Pet Walk parking lot and streets by leashing them.
The VO Rules and Regulations state pets must be on a leash unless on your property or within the fenced area of the Pet Walk. Hardly a day passes that I don't hear someone complaining about speed, poor driving, etc., yet people let their dogs off leash in the parking lot.
8.4 Pets must be controlled by a leash no more than five feet (5') long when walking on Common Elements, and Pets shall not be permitted to run loose except when in the
designated exercise area.
#2 Before reporting an issue with a person or pet, you need to have specific information about the incident; this includes:
Date, Time
Person and Pet(s) Involved
Statement from a witness
A picture, if possible
You can file a VO Homeowner Violation/Complaint Form if you have this information. Please get in touch with a VOTW director if you'd like some help.
Pet Bites – In the past, it was communicated that if a dog bite resulted in drawing blood, the Mesa Police were to be called. This is incorrect information. If an animal bites a human, please contact Mesa Animal Control at this website: https://www.mesaaz.gov/Resident-Resources/Animal-Control, select the box labeled “Animal Bite to Human” and complete the online form. Their email is animalcontrol.info@mesaaz.gov, and their contact phone is 480-644-2268. In addition, file a VO Homeowner Violation/Complaint Form available in the Administration Office. (A copy is also attached to this email.)
If there is a life-threatening emergency, immediately call 911.
#3 What YOU should do if you believe a pet isn't registered:
Before you talk to anyone, please look for their ID badge and know their name. Then, kindly ask if the pet is registered.
If they would like more information, please tell them to go to the Administration Office with proof of rabies vaccination for the animal.
If they disregard you or are rude, walk away. Please do not get into any altercation or argument! If you can identify the person by name, report them to Deb Halver or Nephi Williams. Please include the date and time you observed the unregistered pet. We will check the records to verify registration.
If the pet isn't registered, we will report it directly to Security/Patrol on a VO Homeowner Violation/Complaint Form, including the name of the person who witnessed the unregistered pet and the VOTW director who submits the form.
#4 Security will monitor the Pet Walk and the streets for unregistered pets. The owner and/or the pet must have evidence of registration. (I.e., a blue tag for the pet and a blue paw for the owner’s badge.) If you registered and didn’t receive a sticker for your badge, please stop by the Admin Office to pick one up.
Wishing you well,
Deb Halver
