Kim joined the staff of the Volusia County Library System in 1980 and has been the Genealogy Librarian at the Daytona Beach Regional Library since 2011. She’s been interested in family history since she was a child. With webinars, workshops and conferences Kim stays current. She invites you to visit and use the resources of the Genealogy Room at the library.
Rick worked for the Daytona Beach News Journal daily newspaper for 23 years as the arts and entertainment writer. He has interviewed such artists as Shirley MacLaine, Janet Jackson, and many others. His full-time career as a freelance writer has led to his soon to be published book, Crows and Ravens: Birds of Myth and Magic.
Paula has worked as a medical social worker at a University and a Community Hospital. An interest in medicine lead to a job as a Certified Nursing Assistant and to a later career as a Registered Nurse. Being a patient herself and having loved ones’ as patients created her desire to develop this course to help others.
Darlene is the Marketing Director of Sappho Chocolates where she uses various softwares to create spreadsheets, graphics, etc. She has taught software applications to hundreds of people, helping them find employment. Darlene is a self-taught computer software expert.
Carol Ann became interested in history as an Elementary Education major at the University of Central Florida and more recently has deepened her interest as a Gallery Specialist at the Museum of Arts and Sciences Gallery of Florida Art in Daytona Beach. She has many years of experience teaching English as a second language at a community college.
Lisa has been an educator for most of her professional career. Her area of specialization is language learning and reading/writing skills. She has been teaching ESOL, English as a second language, for 12 years at Daytona State College where she and Carol became friends and co-teaching partners.
Nevin has had many artworks featured in exhibits in the U.S. and Europe. Her Master of Fine Arts degree led to a career as a college professor of Art History. Her painting studio is in New Smyrna Beach.
Cris is an experienced teacher of Dramatic Literature. She has directed many theater productions, taught playwriting, and acting Shakespeare courses. She has a BA from the University of South Florida and a Master of Fine Arts from FSU.
Josh is a performer, writer and educator of music teaching keyboard, voice and guitar. He has his degree in Composition from Jacksonville University and has written and arranged for screen, stage and an off broadway production.
A class project for her students got Ruth hooked on genealogy. Since then, she has taken multiple classes, courses, and forms of training. She’s collected over 30 notebooks of documents on her family history and serves as Registrar for the Sugar Mill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
