Volunteer Requirements

Community Schools Clearances & Paperwork

This list is in conjunction with the requirements set by the School District of Philadelphia.

1. Child Abuse History Check

2. PA State Criminal Check

3. FBI Criminal History Check: Service Code: 1KG6ZJ (The cost is $24.20)

   • OR a signed FBI Waiver for individuals who have resided in Pennsylvania for 10 years or more.

4. School District of Philadelphia Quiz

   • Volunteers will be issued a Certificate of Completion at the end of the quiz. Please allow several days to receive your certificate and double check your spam/junk folder.

   • Volunteers take the quiz at the end of orientation; however, if you choose to take the quiz on your own the quiz is based on this webinar.

5. SDP Volunteer Code of Conduct

6. City General Release Volunteer Form

Submit your clearances here if you are interested in being a general or grocery giveaway volunteer. Email CommSchools@phila.gov if you have any questions.

Philly Reading Coaches

Philly Reading Coaches require the following:

1. Child Abuse History Check

2. PA State Criminal Check

3. FBI Criminal History Check: Service Code: 1KG6ZJ (The cost is $24.20)

   • OR a signed FBI Waiver for individuals who have resided in Pennsylvania for 10 years or more.

4. National Sex Offender Registry Verification

5. New Volunteers (adults aged 18+), complete the Safe Schools Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training.
