With 42,000 ha of peatland in County Offaly, the history of both Bord na Mona and ESB operations goes beyond their landmass and energy production. The stories featured throughout this 13-part series focus on generational employment and the direct establishment of communities by these bodies in the 1950s. Irish Life and Lore’s ‘Capturing our Story: Kilcormac’ Oral History Project, with support from Creative Ireland, Offaly County Council Heritage Office and Kilcormac Development Association, features recordings of local residents who provided wonderful and descriptive testimonies of life down through the years.

GAA Oral History Project
The GAA Oral History Project was commissioned by the GAA as part of its 125th anniversary celebrations in 2009. The aim of the project was to record, collect and preserve the memories, stories and opinions of the people involved in the GAA.
Under the direction of Boston College, 790 interviews were conducted with approximately 1,300 GAA fans, players and administrators between 2009 and 2012
