Please bring your own chair as there are none available at site.

Classes

Yoga/Stretching of Shoulders and Back |
9:00 AM and 1:00 PM
Taught by Ebergardis von Zell
A 15–20-minute routine for shoulders and back with variations. Recommend bringing a mat or towel - we will be on the ground. I will have a few blocks/bolsters/mats available for use.
Inspecting Combat Archery Ammunition On the Field | 9:00 AM

If you would love to help out on the combat field and don’t know what you can do you can always help out by learning to inspect combat archery ammunition! Bunny’s super quick 5 second inspection class will have you ready to inspect the ammo so it can be shot again! Learn what to look for and BE A HELPER! ALL AGES ARE WELCOME!

Make a sling and then learn how to use it. This is a two-part class, with a 10:00 AM to make a sling and 1:00 PM to learn how to use the sling.
One Ring to Rule Them All: Thumb Ring Archery 101 | 10:00 AM

This class will be hands -on - location on the archery range, focusing on the wide variety of thumb rings available, the proper fit of rings, the techniques associated with different styles of thumb rings, and the correct stance for this style of archery.
Spliced Fletching 101 | 10:00 AM

Make boring single-color fletches interesting by Frankensteining them with other feathers! Learn how to splice two types of fletching. This class is to learn how to splice, not fully fletch, a set of arrows. Ages 13+, due to sharp blades and precise work. Class limit 10. Class fee $5.
Velocity Testing Your Bows and Crossbows | 10:00 AM

Have you ever wondered how fast your hand bow shoots? Have you ever wondered how hard your combat crossbow of hand bows really hit? We are compiling data to see these things so bring your bows and crossbows, we will even have ammo to shoot if you don’t have any. If you have a chronometer you can bring it and calibrate it with mine too! We can even check with thrown weapons too! Bring it all combat or target!

Do You Want to Throw Knives, Axes, Spears, or Plumbata? | 2:00 PM

Then come and learn the basics for all of these at the VMA class "How to Throw Anything!" You will learn the basics on how to throw these things at minimum distance targets. Distance, grip, release, and how to self-correct will all be topics discussed. Please bring any weapons you want to learn with. Loaner gear will be available for those who do not have their own weapons.

Siege

Types of Siege Engines | 9:00 AM, Siege Field

This class will cover the different types of siege engines and structures used in the SCA and in period, how they were used, and why they were used.
No materials are needed for this class. Handouts will be provided.

So, You Wanna Build a Siege Engine? | 10:00 AM, Siege Field

Taught by Viscountess Caterina Giovanni and Orlando Giovanni

This class will cover how to construct a traction trebuchet and a ballista, as well as sourcing the materials needed for their construction. It will also cover how to source and construct ammunition for a traction trebuchet and a ballista.
No materials are needed for this class. Handouts will be provided.

Siege Authorizing for Engineers | 1:00 PM, Siege Field

Taught by Viscountess Caterina Giovanni and Mistress Colleen O’Kelly

This class will teach participants what they need to know to be members of a siege team. Class topics will include the types of siege devices, ammunition used, how to operate an engine, how siege engine ammunition damages combatants and structures on the battlefield, armor requirements, and knowledge of the rules of melee combat.
No materials are required for this class, however, armor is strongly encouraged for participants who have it available. This practice is hands-on and is an opportunity to familiarize yourself with running a siege engine safely and efficiently.
Class attendees will be authorized siege engineers at the end of the class.

Building a Siege Team | 2:00 PM, Siege Field

Taught by Viscountess Caterina Giovanni, Mistress Colleen O’Kelly, and Baroness Emma O’Ruaric

This class will cover the types of people best suited for a siege team (hint: it’s a more inclusive way to get on the battlefield than you might think!), the different jobs on a siege team, what the siege team members will do on the battlefield, how the members of a siege team will work together on the battlefield, and how to be successful.
No materials are needed for this class. Handouts will be provided.

We will be making our own slingshots then taking them to the range to see how well they work!

Feats of Skill | 11:00 AM

Relay Race. Can you and your team make your way over the lava pit? How far can you throw a javalin while balancing on a rock. How many cartwheels can you do in a line? Come cheer on you friends in some friendly competition in some fun relay races!

Youth Archery Shoot | 1:00 PM

Come to the Archery Range with your legal guardian and shoot at the fun target. Youth loaner gear available. Adults are welcome to shoot with the youth.

Youth Thrown Weapons| 2:00 PM

Come to the Thrown Weapons range with your legal guardian and thrown knives and axes. Loaner equipment is available.

Catapults | 3:00 PM

Who doesn't love flinging things? We will make our own catapults and take them to the range to fire them! Youth under 8 years old MUST have an adult helper as this is a woodworking activity.
