Researchable Question
How can 3D printing be effectively presented and used for education? How easily can 3D prints of items that present functionality of a living or nonliving variable be for teachers and students?
Proposal
We will find multiple objects that have some level of functionality. Ranging from living organisms, cells, mechanical objects, technology, etc. After finding these subjects, we plan to dissect and create a separable 3D print where individuals can see the functionality of said object. This project aims to create a simplified system of the item's functionality and an approachable 3D print that can withstand heavy use over many years.
Timeline
March 1 - 9: Research strong subjects to “cut in half”
March 10 - 16: Find and create STL files for said subjects
March 16 - 31: Modify the files via Blender to create depth and show functionality
April 1 - 11: Print in the makerspace
April 11- 20: Potentially modify the print for better representation
