This is a picture of me presenting at the BPAC, Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee meeting at our school district. It was a huge event when I got to create a PowerPoint presentation for all the EL parents. We had over 100 parents come to the event. We had different activities for children and multicultural snacks. Working as an EL teacher, I have developed leadership skills and applied those skills within a variety of learning communities.
Being part of this big event, the Bilingual Parent Advisory Committee, gave me an opportunity to develop my leadership skills and take the initiative to plan for the event in my building. I also communicated with many parents to get their input and if they have any questions. I also sent a survey to all my EL parents to get some information about their needs so we can talk about it.

This is an emergency exit plan that hangs by our classroom. It explains what we need to do as teachers in case of an emergency. As a teacher, I understand really well that I need to follow this plan and talk about it with my students. The standard states that teachers should understand emergency response procedures as required under the School Safety Drill Act. This includes school safety and crisis intervention protocol, initial response actions, and first response to medical emergencies. I really feel this is important because if the unthinkable happens, we have to be prepared to protect our students' safety and well-being.
