The target group of the workshop are scientists and practitioners from information systems, computer science and related disciplines who are interested in ethical issues and values in the context of requirements engineering and system development. A background in the field of philosophy is not a prerequisite for participating in the workshop. The workshop aims at attracting interested participants of the entire Modellierung conference.

Submissions can be up to 10 pages long, including the list of references. Short articles with a maximum of 5 pages are also possible. All contributions will be reviewed by 3 members of the program committee; accepted submissions will be published in a joint conference proceedings in the Digital Library of the German Informatics society (GI e. V.) https://dl.gi.de/.

Einreichungen in deutscher Sprache sind herzlich willkommen. / German language submissions are warmly welcome.

Workshop Format

The workshop provides a discussion forum in which various methods for incorporating values into system development are discussed. It is planned to include up to four submitted contributions in the workshop. Also, the workshop offers a theoretical and practical introduction to the Square of Values (SoV) modeling approach. After introducing the concepts behind the SoV, participants will put the approach into practice through ethical case studies. A guided discussion then takes place about how suitable the approach is for modeling.

The results of the discussion will be documented in a research paper, for which the workshop participants will be invited as co-authors.
