Workshop on Virtues and Values in Conceptual Modeling and Requirements Engineering
Modellierung 2026
System design and software development have increasingly influenced human lives, and with the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) incorporating human values and ethical responsibility into system design and conceptual modeling becomes critical. This workshop provides an interactive platform to explore value-based and ethical perspectives on conceptual modeling and requirements engineering.
Methods for incorporating human values into system development
Application examples and experience reports for ethical modeling methods
Conceptual integration of values and ethics into modeling
Presentation of frameworks and/or method collections for value modeling
Evaluation results for the application of value-oriented methods
Application examples of concrete values in modeled systems

Einreichungen in deutscher Sprache sind herzlich willkommen!
German language submissions are welcome!
The target group of the workshop are scientists and practitioners from information systems, computer science and related disciplines who are interested in ethical issues and values in the context of conceptual modeling, requirements engineering and system development. The workshop invites paper submissions addressing value-related and responsible approaches to the use and development of ICT.
Submit at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=vivamodels26. Please use the LNCS article template to format your submission.
Submissions can be up to 10 pages long, including the list of references. Short articles with a maximum of 5 pages are also possible. All contributions will be reviewed by 3 members of the program committee; accepted submissions will be published in joint conference proceedings in the Digital Library of the German Informatics society (GI e. V.).
All participants of the Modellierung conference are welcome to ViVa Models! Participants are not expected to submit a contribution beforehand. They will be asked to actively contribute to the interactive modeling session.
In 2026, we will focus on the theme Opportunities and Challenges of AI in Modeling, inviting participants to reflect on how values shape – and are shaped by – emerging technologies in conceptual modeling. We will use Critical Systems Heuristics (CSH) (Ulrich and Reynolds 2020) and Boundary Critique (Reynolds and Wilding 2017) as a structured approach to critical systems thinking.
The workshop takes place on March 9, 2026, in Bayreuth, Germany.
The agenda will be made available here.
