Join the VIU Harm Reduction Alliance and 4th year HealthyU VIU nursing students for a Harm Reduction Info Table + Naloxone Training on Thursday, October 23 at 11 am in the Lower Cafeteria (Building 185). This event highlights the importance of harm reduction in Nanaimo and offers an opportunity to learn practical skills through naloxone training.
Snacks, resources, and harm reduction supplies will be available, along with space to connect and ask questions. All are welcome to drop by, learn, and take part in supporting community wellness.

Join the VIU Harm Reduction Alliance and HealthyU VIU Nursing Students for a Harm Reduction Panel on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, from 2–5 PM at the Malaspina Theatre (Building 310).
This free event will bring together a diverse panel of speakers to share their experiences and insights on harm reduction and the toxic drug crisis in Nanaimo. The session will include a Q&A, free refreshments, and opportunities to learn, connect, and engage in meaningful discussion about community health and safety.
All are welcome—students, staff, and community members alike. Come take part in this important conversation and deepen your understanding of harm reduction in our community.

Join the VIU Health & Wellness Center for a Free Naloxone Training on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025, from 10 am – 12 pm at Shq’apthut – A Gathering Place (Building 170). This workshop, co-facilitated by Island Health and the First Nations Health Authority, will provide participants with the skills and knowledge to respond to an opioid poisoning, with a special focus on Indigenous perspectives.
The session is open to all students and employees, and a free lunch will be provided. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn a life-saving skill and take part in building a safer, more supportive community.
