Vitantonio Mariella

Welcome!

I am a MSCA postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Economics at SDU, Sup: Prof. Paul Sharp. I am on the 2026–27 European job market (EJME) and will be available for interviews in December 2026.

Previously, I worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Economics, University of Bergamo and at CNR-IRPPS, Rome.

I received my PhD from Sapienza University of Rome in 2020.

My research lies at the intersection of economic history, development economics, political economy, and applied economics. I study why some territories persistently fall behind, and what public intervention — historical or present-day — does to change that.
