Attachment Issues
Sterling Silver, 2023
These pieces provide a visual form to the psychological concept of 'attachment issues'. The sharpened claws at the ends of the structure attach to the body via tension as well as by slightly gripping and piercing the skin of the wearer. The size is relational to the extremes of the attachment; smaller pieces equal a lesser formed attachment i.e. a friend or acquaintance, and is hardly noticed by the wearer. The larger the piece is, the more violent the attachment to the body. This relates to a stronger perhaps unhealthy portrayal of attachment to another.
The violent nature of the works attachment to the body leaves marks on the skin even after the piece is removed, further adding to the conceptual nature of the piece and it's visual representation of a usually psychological experience of affect.
Attachment Issues (Cont.)
Steel Rod, 2024
This series of work allows itself to an ongoing exploration of form and further attachment to larger areas of the body. The work serves as it's own type of body mapping as well as a visual and physical exploration of a psychological phenomena. The relation to the body is signifigant in portraying the idea the the work is conceptually connected to the human experience.
I am currently experimenting with even larger forms. The pieces are able to be worn in performance, as well as stand on their own as sculpture with an implied relation to the body.
The concept of having attachment issues directed onto another person or object, as well as someone else having those attachment issues towards you, is something that can exist in life, but continue past death.
