Looking for a PhD studentship? 

You would need to select a primary supervisor & institution, but informally all our PhD students can become part of the distributed LAAAAb network, joining our virtual journal groups and benefitting from the general lab know-how!

At Aberdeen, there is a PhD studentship competition which normally runs in Spring each year.  All three universities also participate in Doctoral Training Centres which offer PhD studentships (SGSSS studentship competition at Aberdeen, SENSS studentship competition at Essex and Midlands Graduate School studentship competition at Leicester). These competitions normally open around October each year.

There are also a number of scholarships available for specific groups e.g. the China Scholarship Council and University of Leicester joint PhD scholarships.

We encourage you to get in touch with us early (at least 3 months before a deadline) if you are interested in applying for a PhD studentship with us as it takes some time to write a good application.
