Babylon 5 Bazar

You have wandered into the Bazar, an extension of the commercial precinct on Red 6.  All around, kiosks are selling vids, books and other memorabilia devoted to Babylon 5.  It is an advertiser's dream, seeing all these licensed products on display!

Looking for Original Vid Logs

You take a walk through the Bazar.  Off to the left and right, you see stands advertising all the latest vids.  Many of these report recent events on Babylon 5.  Some describe events elsewhere in the Earth Alliance.

Most of the vids are marked "display copy only," so you wonder where you might go to buy the items you want.  In the end, you decide to see what's on offer, and then you might go back to the Zocalo to find a retailer with more copies.

Hanging onto your credit chit, you dive into the foray.

Original Television Series

All five seasons of the original Babylon 5 television series are now available on DVD.  Each boxed set contains all twenty-two episodes of each series and comes with additional introductions, information features and cast commentaries.  Watch out for the blooper reels!  The original pilot movie The Gathering was also released, and comes logically before the start of season 1.

A single, incomplete season was made of the spin-off series Crusade, which was unfortunately cancelled after only thirteen episodes, just as things were starting to get interesting...

Pilot Movie:  The Gathering

Season 1: Signs and Portents

Season 2: The Coming of Shadows

Season 3:  Point of No Return

Season 4:  No Surrender, No Retreat.

Season 5: The Wheel of Fire

Crusade: Season 1

Feature Length Movies

Apart from the pilot movie The Gathering, the TV show was accompanied by four spin-off TV movies.  Of these, the best is In the Beginning, which chronicles the Earth-Minbari War, the backstory behind the creation of Babylon 5.  The movie Thirdspace chronicles a mid-series encounter with aliens from another dimension.  The River of Souls chronicles a mid-series adventure with Soul Hunters.  The final movie A Call To Arms is essentially the pilot for the following series Babylon 5: Crusade.  Some of these movies are available as compilations.

Movie 1:  In the Beginning

Movie 2:  Thirdspace

Movie 3:  River of Souls

Movie 4:  A Call to Arms

Direct-to-DVD

Several attempts were made to restart new shows within the Babylon 5 universe.  The first of these was a pilot for The Legend of the Rangers, a series which was to focus on the Anla'Shok as peace keepers in the Interstellar Alliance.  The second of these was a pilot for The Lost Tales, an anthology series like Rod Serling's Twilight Zone, that was to focus on individual characters from the Babylon 5 universe.  Neither of these was taken up as a series.  Most recently, an animated film has been released, chronicling the adventures of President Sheridan seeking to return home after becoming unstuck in spacetime (if only they had listened to Zathras).  Some of the characters are voiced by the original cast members, in the same roles.  Others are voiced by new actors, since many of the original cast have now "passed beyond the rim".

Pilot:  The Legend of the Rangers - To Live and Die in Starlight

Babylon 5:  The Lost Tales - Voices in the Dark

Babylon 5:  The Road Home

The vendor apologises, saying that this is the last copy he has in the shop.  Where else might you go?
