How can a young person be referred to Vision Learning Therapeutic Farm?
Young people can be referred to Vision Learning by teachers or parents for different reasons. It could be learning difficulties, anxiety,school refusal or mental ill health. The provision is open to those who attend school but find being in school every day hard, as well as pupils not enrolled in a school. The young person doesn’t need to have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) but this can help with funding.
The Alternative Education provision placements run term time only and each young person comes for set mornings or afternoons each week.

Our bespoke personal development programme underpins everything we do at Vision Learning Therapeutic Farm. Children and young people learn resilience and self reliance and a growing sense of responsibility by undertaking meaningful activities such as walking the dogs, grooming the pony, feeding the animals and cleaning out their pens. Children learn to work together on tasks and in doing so learn to communicate an build social bonds.

At Vision Learning Therapeutic Farm, learning is a physical activity not a sitting at a desk activity. Young people get out and about in the village walking the dogs or engage in the physical activity of planting and growing food or caring for the animals on the farm. Body confidence, confidence in their strength and ability to take care of themselves, helps to build resilience and self esteem in our young people.
