My Story:
I grew up on a farm, which meant my childhood was spent mostly outdoors, working with horses or livestock or generally helping out with the running of the farm. I loved the sense of purpose and order working outdoors gave to my life and the sense of achievement I felt when tasks were finished.
My love of horses grew from a very young age and I became a point to point jockey whilst continuing to work on the family farm. After an accident ended my racing career, I started to work with children and young people, initially in a nursery setting with children with ASD and later with young people with social, emotional and mental health needs at the Harbour School in Ely and in mainstream education.
I realise how lucky I had been to grow up on a farm and wondered if the experiences that I had, would be helpful to some of the young people I worked with.
After working with an approved equine assisted learning provider for two years, I am now so happy to be the director of Vision Learning Therapeutic Farm and feel so privileged to help young people rediscover their love of learning.
