ABOUT ME
DEDICATED TO HELPING TAXPAYERS ELIMINATE THEIR TAX BURDEN THROUGH EDUCATION & ELEVATION
Visionary Accounting & Tax Services was founded in 2014 by Owner & President, Davie the Tax Lady, whose desire was to fulfill the need of those who struggled with their finances and needed someone whom they could confide in, trust, and free them from a path of misguided direction.
Visionary Accounting & Tax Services was birthed out of a need to provide viable financial solutions for individuals who could not otherwise gain access to financial advice.
My journey to becoming a Tax Accountant began at the tender age of 15. My sister and I bonded over me brushing her hair every day after she returned home from work. One day, I was trying to brush her hair, but she was ignoring me, busy working on a pink form. Curious why she was ignoring me, I asked her: "What you doin'?" She responded, "my taxes." I asked her, "What are taxes?" She informed me, "It's money the government takes out of my paycheck every week." "So, why do you have to fill out that form?" I prodded her some more. "Because I have to get my money refunded back to me?" She responded.
I could tell my sister was beginning to become slightly annoyed by questions, but I was already intrigued, so I continued to push. "What's a refund?" My sister answered, "it's the money the government gives back to me from my paycheck." Then, I noticed my name on the form, and grew ever the more curious. I couldn't understand what I had to do with this pink form whatsoever. "Dina, why is my name there?" Dina responded, because you're my sister." "But, it says, dependent." I responded, still confused. "That's right, you're my dependent." "Yeah, but I'm your sister, what's a dependent?" "A dependent is someone who is taken cared of by another person. You're my sister, and I take care of you, so that makes you my dependent."
By this time, Dina had become weary of all of my questions. So, she put the pencil down on the table, looked at me and said, "Here, you do it!" "What do I have to do???" I asked, not knowing what to do. She responded, "Here's the book, read the instructions and follow everything it tells you to do." So I did. An hour later I said, "Here, Dina, I'm finished!" My sister looked over everything and smiled at me and said, "Good job!" She was really beaming at me, so I couldn't help but smile back! "I don't even know what I just did, but... ok!" I was happy she was happy.
Three weeks later, I met my sister at the house door, and she handed me a crispy $100 bill! She said, "Here, this is yours!" Confused, I asked her, "What do you want me to do with this? You want me to go to the store for you?" She said, "No, this is yours, you earned it!" "How?" I asked? Still confused. She said, "Remember when you did my taxes for me?" I said, "yeah!" "Well, I just got my refund back, and I'm giving you $100 for doing my taxes for me!" Something clicked in my head, and I just blurted out, "Hey, Dina!!! Can I get paid for this?" "Yeah, of course you can," Dina reassured me. "But, how? How can I get paid doing taxes?" Dina said, "Well, you've gotta go to school for it. You have to take up Accounting when you get to College, ok?" I said, "Ok, I can do that! I'll take up Accounting when I go to College!"
I went to College and majored in Accounting and the rest is history. That day, my sister gave me a purpose by which to achieve, and I have stuck with it ever since!
