Virtual Threads is been a group of cooperating homeschool families using the Tapestry of Grace curriculum to guide our middle and high school students in their humanities studies.

Starting in 2008, our first families used telephone conferencing to lead virtual discussions. Today we get to use video conferences and see each other's faces!

Our goal as we learn together is to glorify God, seeking to understand history, literature, and culture through a biblical worldview while cultivating thoughtful discussion, intellectual curiosity, and mutual encouragement.

Virtual Threads is a parent-led cooperative. Each participating family contributes to the teaching and partnership of the group.

Families work together to:

• support student preparation and accountability by reviewing and giving feedback (not grades) on student work

• lead discussion classes that encourage thoughtful dialogue and respectful disagreement

• build a community that strengthens both students and parents

Teaching responsibilities are shared among participating families throughout the year.

Over the years we have worked intentionally to make our classes increasingly Socratic in nature. Students come to class prepared so that our time together can focus on discussion, analysis, and shared learning.

Our goal is for students to:

• engage deeply with the reading through completing assigned reading and homework 

• be able to articulate their own ideas orally in discussion and in writing through homework and occasional reports/presentations

• listen thoughtfully to one another, engaging respectfully with differing perspectives
