About the Author

Becky Stewart

Becky Stewart just finished her fifth year of teaching band and choir at Yuba Gardens Intermediate in Olivehurst, CA. She teaches beginning woodwinds, beginning brass, beginning percussion, concert band, wind ensemble and choir. She graduated from CSU Sacramento with bachelor’s degrees in Flute Performance and Music Education. Becky is a recipient of the CTA Outstanding First Year Teacher award, the 2019 Outstanding New Educator award for her district and the 2020 winner of California Music Educator Association’s Middle School Music Specialist Award. Becky is also a past member of the Area A Council for California Association of Directors of Activities. Becky has presented at both CADA and CASMEC conferences as well as regional student and adult CADA conferences. She really enjoys teaching at a Title I school and particularly enjoys teaching middle school. Becky has rebuilt her program from the bottom up over the past five years and now has 250 students enrolled in band and choir. She really looks forward to sharing music education with her students everyday! Becky also enjoys Spartan Racing and consistently places in the Top 10 in her Age Group.

Becky is currently pursuing her masters degree from the American Band College through Central Washington University in Music Education.
