Greeting to the populace of the Kingdom of Avacal, Kingdom of Northshield and the rest of the Knowne World. It is I, Eirik of Two Ravens one of your Event Stewards of the ever magical Virtu-L 12th Night of both the Barony of Montengarde and the Barony of Castel Rouge. I am sponsoring a contest, I seek to find the best moments in the histories of the Barony of Montengarde or the Barony of Castel Rouge, or both if you have that. It can be given either in a narrative style, poem or an essay style. The maximum word count for either is 1000 words.
This Contest shall be judged by their Excellences, Baroness of Montengarde Bóthilðr Sigurðardóttir and Baroness of Castel Rouge Bannthegn Clare Agatha MacLeod, who have agreed to judge this contest.
So what we are seeking is a moment in the history of either Barony and why you value it or why it special to you. It could be court, the battlefield, the tourney field, council meeting, etc. We want to know why it is special to you and why it should be known to others.
So what is a contest without prizes and I have some for you, Master William Bennet has provided a Hand Blown Period glass, I am providing a signed and personalize copy of What Kings Ate and Wizards Drank by Krista D. Ball, which is a delightful book dealing with what people ate in period. I have given it out for various reasons to others SCAians, who all loved it. I read it every 3 or so months since I got it. It is a wonderful work, aimed at Historical fiction and Fantasy authors. I very much enjoy it.
