In the blink of an eye, the semester has come to an end. I still remember the beginning of the semester when I felt unsure about this subject and didn’t know anyone. Thankfully, the people here were friendly, and the lecturer was incredibly supportive, which helped me quickly find my place within the group.
This subject didn’t involve exams instead, we were tasked with designing a card game from scratch. One of our biggest challenges was coordinating our ideas and ensuring that everyone had the opportunity to contribute. We started by brainstorming and creating several prototypes to choose from. Once we selected the final prototype, we divided the tasks among the team focusing on game design, playtesting, presentation slides, and the e-portfolio. Over the past 14 weeks, I have learned so much through this process.
In the end, this project was more than just creating a card game it was about learning to work together, pushing our creativity, and stepping out of our comfort zones. I’m proud of what we accomplished as a team, and I’m excited to take the lessons I’ve learned into future projects.

In university, it’s common to become happy after finishing a course. It’s like removing a burden from our life. But what if I told you, “I am so sad, because my course has finished!”? You might be thinking I am crazy right! Well, I really am!
A course with full of fun has just came to an end! It is the “Game Studies”. While starting the course, I was so unsure because I did not know anyone, and it was my first ever module as a Game Design minor. But with the help and support of my friends and my professor “Dr. Charles Sharma Naidu”, I made it through!
I still remember how I met with my group-mates, and how we have become lifelong friends! At the first class, I met with Bryan at first, just like me, he was alone too. I asked him if he would like to join with me. He agreed! Then I met with Li Hao and Tracy. After a while, we met with Atika and our group became complete. We talked, bonded, and became good friends. Together, we successfully completed every task in the course!
My experience with this group was smooth! The thing I like with the group is, instead of “I” everyone believed in “We”. Well, that’s how a group should work! Working together, not just divide the task and finish, but also talk with others and do it together! My poetic mind can’t help but sing:
“In unity’s strength, we rise and thrive,
Together we conquer, together we strive,
Through every challenge, we'll see it through.
Always remember, I am here with you!”
And then there’s our professor. Honestly, I feel so lucky to have worked with someone as enthusiastic, passionate, and—best of all—a gamer! I loved discussing games with him. I remember telling him about “Far Cry 4,” my favorite game, and how I’m from a region close to the Himalayas—the setting of the game. Inspired by this, I made a video about the game for Exercise 1, and guess what? Everyone loved it! Even my parents and people who don’t play games said they could relate to what I shared. That video wouldn’t have been possible without the motivation my professor gave me.
At the end, I would just say, a golden chapter has just passed, but I am optimistic enough that I will get a chance to work with my professors and friends again in future! I am sure I will!

For this assignment, my group members and I went through a long process, which was very enjoyable. The group members were really nice and friendly.
We first prepared several game ideas and selected the best one among them. In the end, we chose this cat-themed game, which turned out to be incredibly fun!
Through various resources and artistic designs, we gained a deeper understanding of the game.
The collaboration with my group members was very enjoyable. They are all incredibly friendly people, and I feel very fortunate to have worked with them.

This course has been an interesting and enriching experience. Over the past 14 weeks, I’ve learned a lot and grown significantly, though I do feel a bit of disappointment in some areas. Throughout the course, Dr. Charles has been incredibly supportive, guiding us to make our ideas as engaging as possible. He provided valuable advice on what we should focus on and was always there to lend a helping hand when we needed it.
We conducted numerous tests on our prototype, making adjustments along the way to refine it for playtesting. The playtests with our friends were especially helpful, as they allowed us to gather feedback from real players and identify areas for improvement. I’m truly grateful to everyone who participated in these playtests and offered their insights. Their input played a crucial role in shaping our project.
I would also like to thank my group members for their outstanding cooperation and commitment throughout the 14 weeks. A special thanks goes to Tracy, who took on the challenging task of handling the design aspect of our project. Since most of us are from the School of Computer Science, working on a design-focused project was outside our comfort zone. Tracy’s efforts in carrying the design work were invaluable, and we couldn’t have done it without her.
Overall, I am deeply thankful for this journey and the opportunity to work with such a supportive team and lecturer. It has been a challenging but rewarding experience that I will always appreciate.

Game Studies was a such a nice modules for me where I learned a lot of stuff in 14 weeks. Every weeks gave their own journey and we, our group finally able to reach the end of the semester together.
Our task is to create an existing game and the main objectives is for entertainment and even can be educational. It was such a challenging things for me since I'm rarely played any board game, I got a little knowledge to build a game. Luckily, I got group members that are good on this way, and we create the idea together.
One of the interesting part is that I could experience to designing a card game during this modules. Even the process is really exhausting since I'm work it alone, but with so many kind of references, I got so much helped with it. Later then when the final products come, I felt a little dissapointment since the print services can't help us to print both sides so we need to glue it manually and it make the cards not look clean.
Lastly I would like to thanks all group members for working with me and the lecturers that guide us for improving our gameplay core!
