My policy work is published with think tanks including the Middle East Institute, where I am a Media Affiliate on technology and U.S.-Middle East relations.
My policy work coalesces around two central themes: U.S. export controls on computing technologies and fundamental scientific research spending by the U.S. government.
Much of U.S. tech policy work operates on the assumption that policy analysis can be separated from engagement with technical research. I try to avoid this with my different areas of focus, evident in my academic scholarship.
I co-authored and submitted a response to the Office of Science and Technology Policy on the Development of an AI Action Plan on behalf of the Middle East Institute with my frequent collaborator Mohammed Soliman.
