Villa Paolillo was simply awesome for us 4 (2 adults and 2 children). The view, and accommodation is just astounding. However, guests would need to be fit as there are about 184 steps to the nearest road! I would also recommend Gerry's Bar in Progerola for a quick bite, nice drink and great view.
Yes, lots of stairs! BUT so worth the hideaway. Also, you will feel like you REALLY deserve the pasta, pizza and limoncello located both at the top (Perogola) and the bottom (Amalfi) of them! The villa was perfect. Clean, large and stayed cool in the heat. Absolutely perfect for what we needed. There is a terrace right outside your door that we sipped espresso on every morning. We enjoyed a beach day in Amalfi and ended up taking a very cheap and equally fun 20 minute bus ride back up to the village where the villa is located. Antonio greeted us at the Napoli train station and took us on a beautiful drive to the villa. He was a serious highlight of our trip and suggested places to eat in town along with instructions on how to walk there. He also set up a private boat tour to Positano with a friend of his where we went swimming along the way. Simply amazing. Cant thank Claire, Enrique and Antonio especially enough for our wonderful stay on the Amalfi Coast.
This place was amazing! The view was great, we loved walking down the stairs to the Amalfi shopping area (surprisingly not as exhausting as we thought it would be. Took us about 25 minutes the first time then 15-20 the next day because we didn't take pictures the second day...lots of great views!) then taking the bus back up to the Pogerola bus stop. Claire was very quick to respond to any messages and her friend Antonio was very nice and helpful with answering any questions and driving us to a few places. There is also a really sweet grey and white cat that showed up every night on the patio. The few food shops and restaraunts at the top of the stairs were great to walk to for small things, fruit, veggies, drinks, and dinner. If we return to the Amalfi Coast, we hope this place is available! Thank you Claire, Enrico, and Antonio!
We had a fabulous time staying at this villa and it was a perfect base from which to explore the Amalfi Coast. It was very clean, as described, strong WiFi, beautiful views and a quiet locale. Was great to chill and get away from the traffic of the coast, make a home cooked meal and enjoy the views. It's about a 15 minute walk down stairs to Amalfi town /beach so would only recommend descending (800 or so steps) then catching bus up to Pogerola (villa is then about 200 steps down from bus stop). In Pogerola there's a lovely pub and local restaurants we thoroughly enjoyed, together with mingling with the locals. Our host organised a private boat tour up and down the Amalfi coast which was mesmerising and very reasonably priced compared to others. If you're driving you can park for free at Pogerola Free Car Park, however this is about 200 steps from the property. For an extra fee our host secured a spot a lot closer to the property. Overall highly recommend this place and great hosts!
Awesome place!
The villa is absolutely beautiful both inside and out! My family and I stayed here for our first trip to Amalfi and found we would definitely stay in the town of Amalfi again if we were to come back. The bus system makes it very easy to get around. The villa is nestled hillside, making for spectacular views and ambiance. The home is very spacious with modern amenities. I would definitely recommend staying here, but only if you are physically fit...the stairs going up and down can be daunting after a few trips!
The Perfect Place
This is a spectacular gem to have found. The property is beautiful and so clean. The restaurants nearby were very nice. Amalfi is a wonderful town with so much to do. The boat trip recommended by our host was outstanding and we had a blast. The stairs were not a problem, just take your time and enjoy the moment! We can't wait to go back!
Stuning views, nice people, overall the best part of our Italian trip. Walk down to Amalfi is easy. We recommend to do a trip to Capri.
Claire’s place was amazing. Just as described and had the most amazing views! The steps were a bit intimidating at first but then were second nature after our first day. Their suggestions for dinner were great, again with amazing views, and we went back to La Carcarra 3 times. And it was great to have Antonio to pick us up on arrival and again for driving us to the airport!
We enjoyed the privacy and spectacular views from this villa. Many nights, we sat out on the patio enjoying the live music that was serenading down the canyon. We found the villa to be exactly as described in the listing. As described, the steps are fine for ‘average fitness’. We were there during an unusually hot period and, as long as we took it easy, we managed the steps just fine.
We absolutely loved our stay in Claire’s beautiful Villa. The stairs down are a little rough at first, but you have a beautiful view of the coastline while you walk. There was a ton of stuff to do and see around the area and it was pretty easy to figure out how to get around. I would recommend this stay to anyone who is willing and able to walk and take many stairs. I will definitely try to come back in the future!
Our stay in Pogerola was definitely a highlight for our trip to Italy! After visiting many other parts of Italy, we really appreciated the small, quaint town of pogerola. From our experience, it turned out to be the best location to stay on the amalfi coast. There are two really delicious restaurants and a pub that has live music almost every night. Claire and Antonio were very friendly and helpful and we felt so welcomed. We feel so lucky to have found such a beautiful spot. The balcony view is incredible. We would love to come back one day.
We had a perfect stay at Claire and Enrico’s place. Claire was great to communicate with and even arranged for us to have a private boat tour along the coast with some Prosecco. Antonio was amazing! He collected us from the ferry to the villa and even helped my friend take her two suitcases down the stairs. He flew down them! Then he collected us to go back again. He offered to help with our bags but we made ourselves do it. Antonio also collected us from the villa and took us down to the dock for our boat tour. He was easy to reach the entire time we were there. One day we took the wrong blue bus home and went up to Ravello instead, Antonio was so nice and said we should have rang him and he could’ve collected us instead of getting a taxi. I cannot rave enough about Antonio and how helpful he was! Be prepared for the steps, I’m not in great shape and have a bit of a fear of heights so I went at my own pace and had no problem. Whether you want to go up or down, some amount of steps is unavoidable, but if you’re remotely able for them the place is well worth it! Definitely go up to Pogerola and eat and Gerry’s and La Carcara! The food was great and their hospitality was excellent. To top off our villa stay, Antonio sent us home with fresh lemons; such a kind gesture! I highly recommend Claire, Enrico and Antonio!
Simply an amazing location in Amalfi. Close to the tourist areas for when you want that, but tucked away on the hillside to feel secluded. Waking up to an amazing view of the countryside and water makes for a special experience. Antonio is the local host and provides amazing service. He helped us find a cheap parking spot not far from the listing so that we didn't have to carry our luggage far. If you're visiting Amalfi you can't go wrong staying here.
Staying at Villa Paolillo was a great experience: the sea view, the magnificent mountains, the private terrace with olive treas, the highly welcoming reception by Antonio and the family of Restaurant Carcara. We do not regret that we chose the quiet village of Pogerola as place to discover the beautiful Amalfi Coast.
