According to our notes, Emerging technologies are new and rapidly growing innovations that have the potential to change how we live, work, and interact even if they're not fully developed yet. Emerging technologies can be identified these five attributes: radical novelty, fast growth, coherence, prominent impact, and uncertainty and ambiguity.
For my project I chose Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs). This is achieved with the implant of device in the bran to create a direct connection between the brain and an external device. I chose this topic because it's an emerging tech that is expected to grow significantly in the next 5-10 years, easy to explain, and it has clear advantages and risks.
Prior to this research, I knew about BCIs from the "Black Mirror" movie, but I never thought about how it could be very useful to the disabled community, especially during an emergency.
Above is my Brain-Computer Interfaces PowerPoint presentation.
During the course of this research and presentations from my classmates, I learnt about different emerging technologies and how there is much more we do not know about.
