Rules

Here is a list which all VVSC entries must follow:

• You can send 1 entry. 

• Each country can only have one song.

• All artists must be connected to the country in some way (eg. being born there, descent from there, etc).

• Some countries borrow from others, check with me for borrowers (eg. South Africa --> Lesotho, Greece --> Cyprus).

• Overseas colonies function as independent countries and borrowers from their coloniser of choice, unless you can find someone who actually is from there (this also applies to Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man).

• A maximum of 6 borrowers will be allowed every edition, and no more than 1 per country (excluding Antarctica because, well, penguins and scientists don't tend to sing well...).

• Songs from highly copyrightable agencies are banned (eg. Panik Records, Golden Records).

• Artists that I find in more than 16 fan contests are banned. 

• Songs that I find in more than 6 fan contests are banned (eg. Óneira, This Hell).

• Previous VVSC winning artists are banned.

• Artists that participated in VVSC two times or more are banned (eg. Rita Ora, Saya Noé).

• Songs that participated in VVSC previously are banned (eg. Cheri Cheri Lady, Your Song). 

• Viral songs are banned (eg. Alibi, Beautiful Things).

• Artists that participated in (J)ESC are allowed, as long as they did not win and participated before 2016 for ESC and before 2022 for JESC. Artists from National Finals are allowed, unless they were in 2023, 2024, 2025 seasons. There is a limit of 3 of these artists in one edition (eg. Fábia Maia would be accepted, Mustii would not).

• Songs that participated in ESC, ASC, JESC and National Finals are banned (eg. Évidemment, Sirena).

• Mainstream artists are banned (eg. Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift).

• Mainstream songs are banned (eg. Vampire, Thank U Next).

• Artists with over 15 million YouTube subscribers/Spotify monthly listeners are banned (eg. Kali Uchis, The Weeknd).

• Songs with over 50 million YouTube views/Spotify streams are banned (eg. Mantissa, Queencard).

• Otherwise overused and unoriginal artists are banned (eg. Annalisa, Poppy).

• Otherwise overused and unoriginal songs are banned (eg. Rodéo, Middle Of The Night).

• Covers are allowed as long as both the original and the cover meet all other rules.

• Troll songs are not allowed.

• Fully instrumental songs are allowed.

• Although there is no age limit for songs, if yours sounds too outdated and low quality (eg. Stone Age grunts) it will be rejected.

• If a song does not have a music video or has a really ugly/outdated one, please make a replacement video/ask for one to be made (your replacement video will be rejected if it's not available in AT LEAST 1080p, and looks like you put in effort to make a good one; so no live performances preferably 🤪).

• National Finals are allowed, but only for one country, and with no more than 10 songs. 

• Be a nice person or you'll get banned.

• I have the final say on accepting/rejecting entries.
