Some members of my family unfortunately can't switch to another IMs, and I plan on getting some old android devices (until Librem 5 comes out) for them and install one or both of these apps, still better than stock Android. Would it be possible for me to install these apps, say from apkmirror.com on ReplicantOS or LineageOS or on smth else FOSS?

There isnt yet any viber version for PC, i would like to run this on the home pc (evtl. using an android emulator), is this possible? since viber registration base on the phonenumber and the confermation is done by sending an smscode to the client phonenumber, how would an emulator handle this issue?

qwertyuser Found the issue! I installed Google Play Services and Google Services Framework but had not installed Google Play Store. Once I installed Google Play Store I could already activate Viber. I'll leave this here hoping this can help someone else.

The only thing that I can think of - did you install Viber after installing Google Play Services? Because if you install the app first and then Google Play Services, the app won't work.

Maybe you can try to uninstall Viber, then uninstall Google Play Services, then install Google Play Services back, open Google Play store so that it will finalize the settings (you don't have to login to store) and then install Viber and try again?

For some reason my tablet had as factory default setting minimum width 533 dp!On Android 10 you have to dig deep to find this by activating Developer Options menu (Settings/About tablet/Software Information/7 taps on Build Label) and under Drawing label find the Minimum width setting. Only 60 euros out of these are my fixed contract costs. The remaining 700 came from the excess of almost 12GB that were used. On 31/5, I was contacted by Viber support, with no definite answer as to what caused my problem. We have installed a log tracker to see if this thing comes up again, but I am not that optimistic as for the past month, everything have been running smoothly. The only thing left now, is to get the analysis from my carrier, share it with Viber as I promised already, and try to see what happened.

I had the same problem today. Viber suddenly consumed 5gb in about 24 hours (then my gb and my balance ended, I have a prepaid card).

My carrier is also Cosmote (GR). I contacted them an hour ago and they said I should contact viber.

I have just opened an issue with viber, but from what you say there is no solution.

They just answered me while I was writing this post for more information:

number of emoticon packages, recent voice and/or video calls, participation in group chats, following public chats,

time frame of the excessive charge, how long I have viber installed in my device and version of viber when I first installed it

(I gave a response in all the above except for the version which I obviously did not remember).
