After life researchers, have taught us that the conscious is active, while the unconscious is reactive. The conscious seems to exercise autonomous freewill functioning under it’s own initiative and volition, while the unconscious functions automatically and instinctively.
The conscious is objective while the unconscious is subjective, and the conscious is intellectual while the unconscious emotional.
This dynamics causes:
Conscious mind is verbally oriented
Unconscious is non verbal, thinking and communicating via symbols, pictures, gestures and metaphors (the sender produces messages that the unconscious interprets)
Neurologist have revealed that:
Conscious mind see the differences and distinctions between things
The unconscious, sees the connection and relationship (the conscious sees the tree, the unconscious the forest; where the tree is the text and the forest the context)
This division, that one of the two souls have free will is due to, the unconscious being blind to the differences and distinctions between things does not realize of the choices available, is therefore unable to choose or decide can not exercise self-determination as mindless machine running in automatic.
Whenever the conscious mind initiates a move the reactive and responsive unconscious makes a corresponding move. This is, when the conscious mind chooses or acts in a way, the unconscious mind chooses or acts automatically generating it’s own responses and feelings, emotions and impressions that are released to conscious mind.
The unconscious is not only the source of our moral balance, but also the source of our emotions and feelings, so when we repress the unconscious in order to avoid its moral judgments, we often find that we become cut off from our feelings and emotions as well. This is why it is a classic cultural archetype that the most evil people in the world feel no emotions, for in the process of turning off the voice of their own morality, they had to block the voice of the whole unconscious and so became cut off from their own feelings.
Note: It is said that some people, being fully aware of their behavior and consequences, act as psychopaths due to they lack emotions and sense of mortality (no trace of “ka”?).
The illusion of a single vision of the two halves as a single self or unit produces a limited view of the inner an outer reality, but when they are integrated, it enhances human consciousness and self awareness in the individual being more responsive to one's surroundings and powering perception.
As we can see in the next image, the left brain contains the conscious mind and the right brain the unconscious, being the left brain with the faculty of interpreting substance and the right brain the forms.
The left brain (conscious mind) is linear thinking focusing on material or tangible aspects of the reality in a mechanistic way, in the another hand, the right brain (unconscious mind) is intuitive perceiving in a holistic manner, hidden in naked sight, complex patterns and relationships and connections between things.
The conscious mind tend to view itself as separate unit with all around, but the unconscious mind seem to perform a pattern-orientation establishing of interconnections between things.
Each sphere of consciousness depends from one side on the (1) wholeness and in another side on (2) it’s patterns to survive, if a sphere loses it’s distinct autonomy or it’s integral relationship with it’s environment it would cease to exist, since the consciousness seems to embody the function of preserving individuality, the unconscious seems to embody the function of preserving patterns (sense of belonging).
The memories and experiences obtained during life are considered a projection of the image of the individual thus affecting the conscious functions, thinking and behavior.
The unconscious being the innate moral sense, would explain how this conscience function is produced. The unconscious reacts by comparing the latest choice or decision with the person’s memories.
