Long Term Care Family Council Meeting

Tuesday, September, 2022, 7 p.m.

MINUTES

The meeting was brought to order at 7:05 p.m. by the Chair. He welcomed all attendees. He also welcomed Rebecca Thomas, Director of Recreation and Joanne Hernandez, Resident Support Coordinator.

Rebecca confirmed that there were no recent outbreaks of Covid 19 at the home.

Rebecca introduced Joanne as her replacement as the new assistant to the family council. Joanne will take over at the next council meeting.

The home held a celebration on August 24^th to acknowledge the contribution from longtime team members.

Pet therapy is continuing and new volunteers are being recruited.

There are new leadership roles at the home and family members are encouraged to check the home’s online newsletter for the latest appointments.

In order to facilitate 7 days recreation in a week, the home is in the process of hiring PT Rec team member in all the Neighborhood in LTC.

The home is working to update their policies to conform to the new ministry standards regarding information to caregivers for any outbreaks.

The council reiterated to Rebecca that it would appreciate if the home could make new family members aware of the existence of the Family council when sending out notices.

The family council received several inquiries from family members to find out if the council could start meeting at the home again. It was suggested that the meetings could be held having both in person and through zoom for those who would prefer to stay on-line.

A concern was also raised regarding the lack of staff on the floors when a staff meeting is held.

There being no other business and the meeting ended at 8:00 p.m.
