VEX IQ

Competitive Robotics

Welcome!

The VEX IQ Robotics Challenge is a problem-based learning experience for students in elementary and middle school. Each year, students build a robot to play the game of the season. The game field perimeter stays the same, but the game field elements will change each year to continue to provide new design opportunities for students to build and code.

Official tournaments are hosted by event partners through the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation (REC) and coaches may sign their teams up for tournaments through robotevents.com. Each year a team needs to register their team number for the season (with REC) and then they are able to sign up for tournaments (with event partners). New teams will need to register and create a team number that will stay with their school or organization in the years that follow.

Competitive teams generally consist of two to six members. The larger teams may have additional roles for students to fulfill as described on the next page. To get started, each team will need at least one VEX IQ Super Kit. Classroom bundles are also sold with 12 Super kits and some game pieces. Over time, many teams purchase additional items as they build their robotics programs and more complex robots.
