Download the Pack
Download the Vex Essentials .mcpack file in Vex-Updates channel from our official Discord server.
Open the File
Once you downloaded the packs, tap or double-click the .mcpack to import it into Minecraft automatically.
Activate in World Settings
Go to your world’s Behavior Packs and Resource Packs tabs.
Select and activate Vex Essentials packs in both sections.
Click on Experiments Tab and enable Beta APIs
Join your world or server
After enabling the packs, you can now go to the world or join your server. If you applied correctly the packs you will notice a dark-theme on every UI. Once you enter you would need to execute /reload in chat, if you are in server you will have to execute /reload on the host console and on Realms you will need to close the Realm and reopen it again.
Important Notes:
If you are on a server you would need to download the server world, import it to Minecraft and enable the experiments and then upload it again to the host.
If you are on Realms, the world should have already beta api experiments on before importing the packs, since you cant activate it natively on Realms. Also take in mind that sometimes Vex would not work properly in Realms, this is a issue we can't fix at the moment.
Step 1: Download the RP and BP files from Vex-updates channel from our official Discord server
Step 2: Open Aternos and go to the files section, add the RP y BP files on the folder named "packs" and wait them to upload.
Step 3: Go to the worlds section, click on the options button and scroll down until you reach the experiments section and activate Beta Api on there.
Step 4: Turn on the server and make sure the Beta Api is still activated.
Step 5: Enter to your server and verify that the UI is black/dark mode, if thats the case then, Congratulations, you followed the steps correctly!
Step 6: Return to Aternos and go to the console section, type /reload and return to Minecraft.
Step 7: Put the Admin tag, execute in the chat the following command: /tag @s add Admin, with this command you can use the nether star and let someone else to do it.
Step 8: Grab the nether star, click on it and if it opens the admin menu then, congratulations again! Now just remains to start setting up your server.
Important Note: Make sure to use always the latest versions of RP and BP, and also make sure to have followed all the instructions correctly. Any questions join our discord serv er for better assistance.
Usually hosts provide SFTP access for their users, this guide explains how to upload Vex Essentials or other addons (behavior packs and resource packs) to a server host using SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol).
What is SFTP?
SFTP allows direct access to your server files, making it the recommended method for installing addons safely and efficiently.
Before starting, make sure you have:
A Minecraft Bedrock server
SFTP access credentials (host, port, username, password), Host, Port, and username are provided by your host, the password is the same one you use to log in your host
An SFTP client (recommended: FileZilla or WinSCP)
Your addon files (.mcpack, .mcaddon, or extracted folders)
SFTP is a secure way to upload and manage files on your server remotely.
It allows you to:
Upload addons
Edit configuration files
Manage behavior and resource packs
Restart or reload your server content
Minecraft Bedrock servers use two main addon folders:
behavior_packs/
resource_packs/
These folders are usually located in the server’s main directory.
Launch your preferred SFTP client (e.g. FileZilla).
Enter your server’s SFTP credentials:
Host: Server IP or hostname
Username: Provided by your host
Password: Provided by your host
Port: Usually 22
Then click Connect.
Once connected, navigate to:
behavior_packs/
resource_packs/
Option A: Folder Addons (Recommended)
If your addon is already extracted:
Upload the folder to:
behavior_packs/ (for behavior packs)
resource_packs/ (for resource packs)
Option B: .mcpack / .mcaddon Files
Some hosts support automatic extraction:
Upload the file to the server
Restart the server
The pack may auto-install (host-dependent)
After uploading:
Open the server’s worlds/<world_name>/world_behavior_packs.json
Add your behavior pack UUID
Do the same for:
world_resource_packs.json
⚠️ Some hosts provide a panel-based pack manager, which can automatically activate packs for you.
Restart your server to apply changes.
Once the server is back online, the addon will be loaded.
Make sure the folder name matches the pack
Check manifest.json for valid UUIDs
Ensure the addon supports your Bedrock version
Do not upload addons inside other folders
Avoid spaces or special characters in folder names
Always restart the server after uploading addons
Keep backups before replacing existing packs
SFTP is recommended when:
Uploading large addons
Installing custom plugins like Vex Essentials
Managing multiple packs
Using VPS or dedicated servers
Make sure both the behavior pack and resource pack are enabled, with one of them missing it would not work!
Dont use any other Essentials or any add-on that uses the similar files or functions as vex (for example a java pvp add-on which uses hud_screen.json for displaying a cooldown).
Use always the latest version of the packs with the latest version of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.
When you are using too many packs along-side with vex, make sure to put vex on top of all the packs for avoing glithces or bugs.

Once you completed all the steps above, execute now /tag @s add Admin in chat this will give you the permissions to acces the Admin Menu.
Use the Nether Star for opening the menu or use /scriptevent vex:admin or /scriptevent vex:config
Use ender eye for opening the server menu (you can change the item for server menu in server menu setup btw).
