The debate stage is the SVME "VetEthics" Listserv.
At least 1 party must be a member in good standing with the Society for Veterinary Medical Ethics.
A "Veterinary Ethical Public Record Claim of Harm Done" is filed by one party including $100 Tax Deductible Donation
The accused party is notified and given the option to defend their position to clear their name.
If accused party declines, the filing party is allowed to present their case to VetEthics for opinions.
Members of VetEthics are invited (but not required) to write letters of support should legal action be required.
If debate is accepted, then the Defending Party must become a Member of the SVME and pay $100 Tax Deductible Donation.
Every Registered member of VetEthics is encouraged to monitor the debate.
Everything discussed is to kept confidential by each VetEthics member.
Each party presents in turn presenting their case and their evidence.
Each party is invited to introduce "Character Witnesses" to go on Public Record with their opinion
After the agreed upon duration of debate, it is closed and each party can submit wording for 10 questions to the Ethical Board
The results of this Poll are only available to both paid participants
Every SVME Member is encouraged to add their voice either against or in defense of the accused.
If outcome of VetEthics discussion is not satisfactory to one or both, legal mediation can be arranged.
In some cases this might include notifying legal or veterinary authorities
